Earth rotation gained 3.5 milliseconds on atomic time in 2020

While the overall trend is that the Earth rotation rate decreases, Earth rotation (measured as UT1) in 2020 was faster and even gained 3.5 milliseconds on atomic time (TAI). Sigrid Böhm from the research unit Higher Geodesy determined the difference from VLBI measurements and together with Florian Aigner provides more information in the TU News (in German).
