Tichaona Mukunga was born in Mt Darwin, Zimbabwe, in 1987. He received his B.Sc. degree in Environmental and Geographical Sciences, BSc(Hons) in Atmospheric Sciences, and the MSc. in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University of Cape Town in 2013, 2014, and 2018, respectively.
Since February 2020, he has been a Project Assistant and Doctoral student at the Vienna University of Technology Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation in the Climate and Environmental Remote Sensing Research Group. He is currently working on improving the understanding of human influences on wildfires as part of the FURNACES project.
His main research interests include wildfire modeling, applying machine learning techniques to characterize wildfires, and improving anthropogenic representation in dynamic global vegetation, land surface, and wildfire models.
